ICS ROM for Rooted Kindle Fire! [CM9]

Couple weeks back we saw one of the first beta versions of ICS on the Kindle Fire. Well, someone has been working hard to port CyanogenMod 9 ICS ROM to Kindle Fire and boy, it’s almost there with most things working including sound.

The only thing not working in the ROM is video decoding, which doesn’t allow you to watch Netflix movies and alike but if you don’t watch Netflix, this ROM might suit you fine.

It shouldn’t take too long for the developers to figure the last video decoding part out so let’s keep our fingers crossed as I think fully-working ICS should be here any moment for rooted Kindle Fire users.

And for those of you who want to try this beta ICS ROM, here’s the ROM download:

if you hold down the power button for a long time, you may see the light goes out.
and try to hold it down again til the power on.

trying to use CM9 but it keeps reverting back to regular OS when i flash

    • deadcolor says:

It’s not just flashing if you carefully read the instruction.
zip file composed with 2 parts, which you flash and then restore….
I had the same problem lol

Has anyone successfully gotten the old version (Updated version will not currently work on custom roms) of the Google chrome beta to work on this? It requires HW acceleration and this version of CM9 has an option to force HW acceleration rendering in the developer options of the settings menu. I have enabled the setting and rebooted my KF , but chrome still will not work… The rom on my HTC Desire 4g also has this “force HW acceleration rendering” and after checking that, chrome beta works. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this, also great rom ! : )

  5. Anh says:

Can you toggle easily back and forth between new ROM and the stock ROM via a launcher? If so, can you do a video on that? That way, we can still use the old stock ROM to play amazon prime video (with the temporary unrooting app). I’ve seen cyanogen 7 do the toggling. Not sure how to do it though.

  6. Skrewie says:

    Regards Skrew…

not sure but you will be able to install it using TWRP when it does, no need to unroot and install via air.

  8. still cannot generate income still? Well that’s because every one of these worthless trash con artists keep parting us from our hard earned money! we have to start weeding through the frauds and start going to those who actully want you to become successful. thankfully i created a website just about that!

  9. I’ve learn a few excellent stuff here. Definitely price bookmarking for revisiting.
I surprise how a lot attempt you place to make this kind of fantastic informative site.

  10. Even though Black – Berry is the leading messaging device, there are areas
where it lacks. The minute a young child meets Dayz Separate
Hack they are really transformed. Although a documentation is
provided complete with a list of available commands, IT administrators should have little difficulty
using the program straight out of the box.
